Pizza Express has opened a restaurant adjacent to the new Lowry gallery in Salford, which incorporates a centralised cooking operation which forms the focal point of the restaurant.
Ventilation is provided by an extract canopy which has a four metre diameter valance surround, manufactured from satin polished stainless steel.
To reduce the load on the roof structure, the canopy is supported from the floor by means of a self supporting stainless steel structural framework, which is integrated into the canopy structure. The photograph on the right shows the structural steelwork being manufactured in our workshops.
Filtration is provided by Britannia’s superstream baffle type grease filters, which provide a positive barrier to the spread of flames in the event of a fire. Lighting is provided by means of halogen down lighters in the horizontal infill panels.
The canopy and integral structural steelwork were designed, manufactured and installed by Britannia in strict compliance with the new standard for kitchen ventilation, DW172.
