The Rendezvous Restaurant at Center Parcs in Nottinghamshire
has recently been refurbished, and the new kitchen is ventilated
by a Silverline Ventilated Ceiling System. Each cooking area
is protected by a dedicated
extract chamber, which forms a positive fire barrier with
integral grease collection and drainage system. The surrounding
ceiling area is made up of insulated, stainless steel ceiling
tiles. The Britannia system utilises the void
above the ceiling as a pressured supply air plenum. This ensures
that only clean air is passed through the ceiling void, ensuring
structure and services, which pass through the void, remain
uncontaminated.Cassette type ceiling
systems often use the ceiling void as an extract plenum, which
results in a small proportion of carried over grease being
spread over the entire void area. This area is difficult to
clean, or possibly not cleaned at all, which could
result in a health hazard or fire hazard in the void. Silverline
Ventilated Ceiling was developed specifically to address this
issue. As the grease is collected and contained within the
grease filter housings, the kitchen equipment and the extract
ductwork connections can be protected using a proprietary
fire suppression system. For a Refreshing Approach to Kitchen
Ventilation
